Weighted data spaces for correlation-based array imaging in experimental aeroacoustics

This article discusses aeroacoustic imaging methods based on correlation measurements in the frequency domain. Standard this field assume that estimated matrix is superimposed with additive white noise. In paper we present a mathematical model for measurement process covering arbitrarily correlated The covariance of data given terms fourth order moments. aim to explore use such additional information methods. For purpose class weighted spaces introduced, where each space naturally defines an associated beamforming method corresponding point spread function. generic beamformers contains many well-known as Conventional Beamforming, (Robust) Adaptive Beamforming or shading. examines particular weightings depend noise (co)variances. theoretical analysis prove beamformer, by full matrix, has minimal variance among all from described class. Application (co)variance synthetic and experimental show resolution results improved effects are reduced.
